Tablet Command 3.8 New Feature Details

On Wednesday, June 26th, 2024 Tablet Command released Tablet Command and TC Mobile 3.8 to the App Store. This blog provides additional detail for the shared incidents, vertical (high-rise) management, and the select/remove radio names features in Tablet Command 3.8.

Shared Incidents

A Tablet Command account can choose to share incidents to other Tablet Command accounts based on the vehicles assigned to the incident.  As an example we have Fire Department A and Fire Department B who neighbor each other and frequently respond together.  Fire Department A shares to Fire Department B when their E1, T1 and BC1 are assigned to an incident.  Fire Department B can choose to share to Fire Department A when their units E4301, T4311, and B4301 are assigned.

Today incident sharing can only be triggered by units assigned, but we have plans to share by incident type/description, incident location, and also allow ad hoc sharing to any other Tablet Command user.  The other key limitation today is that only the CAD incident details are shared, and not managed incident details.  We also will be adding support for managed incidents in the near future.

In the example below the incident was shared into our demo account from our test account because BC7 was assigned.

Vertical/High-Rise Management

We have added an option to toggle the command board on the units view and the map view from the traditional vertical columns to horizontal rows to better represent a high-rise incident.  Each view can be toggled independently, When operating in the horizontal/High-Rise setup, all the same incident management tools are available.

Change/Add/Remove vehicle

In 3.8 we redesigned the swap vehicle interface and renamed it "Change Vehicle".  We also added a feature for users who are configured to select a vehicle if they are not already assigned one. Neither unit needs to be off duty to change, but you cannot change into a vehicle that is already assigned to another Tablet Command user.  That user will need to change out the vehicle, or an admin will need to make that change in the web portal prior to being able to change your user into the new vehicle.
